Woodwork Group

Tui Team Woodwork Group Term 2 2009

The Term 2 Woodwork Group has finished creating their tool box and want to share with you the true story about how they made their tool box.

Mr Pavlovich is our school caretaker, for this term he was our wood work teacher. His number one rule – we had to take it seriously, which meant no laughing and no playing around – we were there to work hard, listen carefully and make our tool box.

When we started we had six pieces of wood, which were different shapes. Three of them were rectangles, two were like small house shapes and we had one piece of dowelling – like a skinny cylinder.

First we had to use one rectangle for the bottom and then we nailed the two rectangles on to the bottom piece to make two sides. Then we had to drill a hole in both of the house like shapes – we had to put the holes in the same place on each one. We nailed and glued the dowelling into the holes (it was now the handle for our tool box). Then we nailed the house shaped piece to the other rectangles and our tool box had two ends and a handle! To make it smooth we rubbed sandpaper over the rough wood.

Finally we had our tool box!

These are the hard working kids who want to be carpenters Misi, Levi, Renee, Lonnie, William and Eugeen.

Thanks to Mr Barry Pavlovich for working so hard with our team.
