Hangi

What an awesome school community we have! Thank you so very, very much to all of the people who helped to make our hangi so successful. Feeding well over 400 people at one time is no easy feat and yet we managed it brilliantly thanks to all of our wonderful parents and members of our extended whanau.  

One thing I loved was seeing people from so many different cultures come together to help with all aspects from preparation on Thursday to cooking and serving on Friday. It was just great to see. There was a wonderful atmosphere amongst all of the people who turned up to help. There are too many people to thank individually – there were people who travelled up north to get cookers, parents who got us special vege prices, parents who turned up with fried bread, those who sourced mussels and many who dropped off pots, gas rings, cookers, serving utensils and extra gear. Kia ora to you all!! 

It was lovely to eat together as a school and it was great to see the tamariki getting “stuck into” their kai! Many came back for seconds and the food tasted superb! Thank you to Summer who said karakia for us all before we ate.
